Upselling and Cross-Selling
Cross-selling and upselling can be realized in different ways. CloudSuite offers the mechanisms, which you can implement and combine according to your requirements.
Manually Selecting Products
For easy implementation, CloudSuite lets you manually select products and link them as upsell or cross-sell options to a product.
This is done in the product details, in the Up/Cross subtab of the eCommerce tab. The order in which Cross and Upsell products are displayed is based on their product ID. Products created earlier appear first, and those created more recently appear last in the list.
On the PDP you can show more than one section to promote other products. For example, you could list the upselling products under the heading “You may also like” and the cross-selling products under the heading “Similar products/Other people bought”. This is not enforced by the CloudSuite platform.
Cross-Selling Based on Tags
Another method is to tag a group of products, which makes it easier to select a larger number of items for upselling or cross-selling (or a combination of the two). You can then simply show products with the same tag.
- Add a tag with Type = Up Selling or Cross Selling to all products in the same series. This can be a collection or selected range of products.
- On the PDP, insert a widget that uses this tag type.
- The sequence of the products within that tag determines the display order.
All products with the same tag as the product on the page will be suggested as cross-selling or upselling options.
Cross-Selling Based on Attributes
To show similar products, the easiest way is to promote products based on attributes. This allows you to show items with similar attributes (e.g. the same color or material), or a combination of attributes.
-
Add a tag with Type = Cross Selling.
-
In the tab Filters, select the attributes that you want to use for showing other, cross-selling products. Per Attribute, set the Filter Type
to include to show products with the same attribute, or
- to exclude to hide products with the same attribute.
- If products are linked through tags, their order in the tag list defines the display sequence.
- If not tagged, products are shown by product ID—older first, newer last.
